Scorpions & fireworks in the bathtub!

Well we all seem to have survived the uber hot temps here over the past week (I'd love to kiss the person that invented air conditioning!!).  I did learn that you ABSOLUTELY cannot go quilt shopping on a 113 degree day if you haven't had something to eat or drink!  Oh yes, and we've encountered 2 scorpions in 2 days, both in the house!!  No one got stung and cartoon scorpions are MUCH cuter!!  Needless to say, Jeff agreed with me that we need to get Pest control service, they will be here next week.

Last night was 4th of July and the Red Rock Casino kinda near us is supposed to have the best show in LV, we have a perfect view from our panoramic window above my bathtub so we all sat in the tub and watched... yup, they rocked!  Before the Casino show, and then again after... we sat out front with neighbors  while the man-folk lite up the stand-bought fireworks.  It was a great time!

If you've seen the Mt Charleston fire(s) on the news (yes, there are 3 up there right now though 2 are contained), those are in the mountains just above us.  We aren't in any danger at all but have been waking up to ash covered cars.

Well that's about it from here.  The house is coming along, hope to have some more pics soon.

Houston... we have some progress!

Well we are plugging away at the house.  In pictures it doesn't seem like we've done much, but we really have!  Every other night or so, Jeff & I have been taking a drive to check out what's around.  The mountain views are gorgeous! and they are so close!!  We all found that we were really missing fresh air!  Luckily the weather has been so nice lately so once it cools down, we've been turning off the air and opening the house up every night.  The last 2 nights it's been too windy to keep the house open over night... but the airing out has been nice.  There is a little park up the street (about a 3 minute walk, if that) and the kids have taken Huck for walks through the park.

The dining room is coming along...at least the table is in there now.  Anyone want to come over and help get the top on the hutch??  That may take all 5 of us!!  I can't wait to have a normal and pretty looking house!

 The house is wired for cable and internet (no more wires running all over the house), Jeff spent Sunday evening getting all of the rooms "live".  We're still hitting a couple of stores now and then looking for curatins, etc.

Doesn't he look so cute pretending to work??  He's hiding a piece of lemon cake behind his laptop ;)  Jeff has since moved all of his boxes of books, etc. in to the library so his office is nearly clear.  Finding a desk for this room will be fun!

I'll check back in soon.  Now that all of the furniture is in place (except the dining hutch) I am hoping to get some decorating done and make this look like a real house!  Priority is getting outside stuff done today and tomorrow because starting Thursday and lasting for several days we'll be getting record heat here :(  Thank goodness for AC!  Oh and if anyone has any tips on dealing with hard water, I'd LOVE to hear them!  Struggling with clean showers and dishes/dishwasher.  Love and miss you all!

My sick Jeep and some fun!

On the drive out here (with Huck and Mikey, who was sick) we broke my Jeep!  The air went out and it was making a weird sound.  Luckily this happend on the last pass and we didn't have much further to go.  Yesterday we rented a car and then took mine in to the shop... $1400 later :(  The good news is that the air works great now! lol.  We've met some great neighbors and Jeff took me out to dinner at the yummiest Italian place... I think I may have a new fave restaurant!!

We finally got it all here!

I started this blog to be able to share with friends and family pictures, etc. of what's going on here.  It's also a way for me to document this for us until I get it scrapped :)

Well it took 3 trips/truck loads and 5 days but we finally made it!  Everything is here!  For the first couple of trips we were able to organize boxes, etc. as they came in but towards the end we were just putting things wherever it was quickest and easiest!  On Tuesday (June 18) the entire garage was stacked full as was the library and dining rooms!

Oh and a functioning kitchen so Mom can cook! lol

The backyard is full of boxes and things that belong in the garage but there's no room for yet, but Jeff & I have carved out a spot to sit at every morning and have some juice :).  Oh yes, and Jeff went back to work today, well went to his Home Office to work :)
